For 30 years, Salvation Jane have been stunning audiences with their harmonic arrangements and vocal mastery.
They have extensive workshop experience in Australia and the UK.
Through their combined skills and experience in teaching, vocal coaching and end of life palliative care, Salvation Jane are perfectly placed to guide you through some self-care practices using their music as a tool and a panacea!
As specialist palliative care practitioners, it is all too easy to keep the focus solely on our clients and patients, and not take the time to reflect on our own impermanence and vulnerabilities. There is good evidence to show that engaging and grappling with our own mortality can bring a greater sense of satisfaction with life, ease the very human death anxiety that we all share, and live with more intention and depth as we maintain the awareness of life’s fleeting nature.
The Salvation Jane workshop will provide participants with a short, guided death meditation, followed by some time to write their own eulogy. This is a valuable opportunity to stop and reflect on our own value as health care providers, remembering we all are mortal beings and that one day it will be our turn to face the great unknown. Can we live every day with this awareness?
Following this activity, Salvation Jane will teach the participants a simple song that will be sung at the closing ceremony of the conference. This way, workshop participants can join in and sing together. It is a recurring chorus, and the melody is simple and will be easy to pick. It would be hoped that the whole audience may end up singing it!
