Professional Bio
Dr Pippa Blackburn is the Chair of Palliative Care Social Work Australia (PCSWA) and works as the Clinical Services Manager for the ISLHD Palliative Care Service. Pippa has a background in social work, nursing and research. Pippa has worked as a Quality Improvement Facilitator with the Palliative Care Outcomes Collaboration (PCOC), been a Peer Mentor with the National Standards Assessment Program (NSAP) with Palliative Care Australia (PCA) and worked as a palliative care social worker in inpatient and community settings and with a regional consult palliative care service. Pippa is an award-winning social worker, recognised for her work in palliative care in Western Australia and raising the profile of social work in this field. Pippa has led the development of national Palliative and End of Life Care Social Work Practice Standards for Australia. Pippa completed a PhD focusing on bereavement and her research interests in palliative care are broad. Pippa is currently an Adjunct Senior Lecturer with Griffith University, Queensland, engaging in ongoing research with Griffith and ISLHD.
