Clinical Nurse Manager Palliative Care - WACHS

Professional Bio

Michelle Macdonald currently works for WA Country Health Services as a Clinical Nurse Manager for the Palliative Care Program. Michelle has been integral to developing a phased model of the WACHS Palliative Care After Hours Telehealth Service (PalCATS) which provides after hours specialist palliative care support to all of WA and fills gaps when the regional palliative care teams are unable. 
Michelle has 40 years nursing experience: Currently palliative care, but also in emergency and surgical/renal specialities. Michelle has expertise is in patient centred care, quality and safety, grief and bereavement, leadership, education, mentorship, clinical research, CPR, ACLS, trauma, Covid planning, and resolving violence, aggression and conflict. Michelle is a support officer and advocates legislative requirements of equal rights and cultural awareness.
Michelle completed first class honours in psychology and advocates wellness as a priority for colleagues in health and workforce sustainability by promoting supportive interpersonal relationships and organisational environments. 
Michelle enjoys community service and volunteering for The Salvation Army "feeding the homeless" and Lionheart camp for kids "grief and bereavement".
