Maureen has over 40 years of hospital social work, beginning in paediatrics at RCH and then as oncology social worker in adult acute hospitals . This experience in clinical practice across the decades is contributing to her current work as a grief and bereavement counsellor in palliative care in acute hospital .
Maureen has been able to combine her clinical interest in oncology social work with social work education . In her positions as social work student unit co-ordination and academic practitioner with Alfred / La Trobe Clinical School she developed a model of care to integrate theoretical knowledge within clincal setting .
As a grief and bereavement counsellor Maureen has been able to continue her interest in patient and family care during across the end of life care and in bereavement .
