Professional Bio
Kate Jurgens recently completed her PhD on bereaved caregivers’ perspectives on preparedness, moving forward and impact of support from a palliative care bereavement service. Throughout her career, Kate has focussed on family caregivers and established the carers counselling service for Carers SA. Kate has worked for many years in public health palliative care services and women and children’s health services. Kate specialises in grief and loss and recovering from traumatic experiences. Kate also has a Bachelor of Social Work degree, a Bachelor of Arts (psychology major), along with a Graduate Certificate of Psycho-Oncology. Kate is a registered Accredited Mental Health Social Worker with the Australian Association of Social Workers.
