Professional Bio
A University of Adelaide medical graduate, Dr Cleary completed an Oncology Fellowship (RAH, 1990). After 3 years of opioid pharmacology research, he moved to Madison Wisconsin, on a RACP Fairfax Family Fellowship. He started the UWCCC Palliative Care Program in 1996 and was the 2004 AAHPM President. He was active in the Pain and Policy Studies Group, a WHO Collaborating Center for Pain Policy & Palliative Care, assuming leadership in 2011. He was recruited to Indiana University Simon Comprehensive Cancer Center in 2018, serving a Director of Supportive Oncology and establishing Walther Program for Global Palliative Care and Supportive Oncology.
