Professional Bio

Heather McMinn has been working as a Disability Sector Consultant with National Disability Services Australia since 2020.
Heather’s role has a primary focus on health, spanning mental health and physical health needs including all life stages. The focus includes provider capabilities and the needs of people with a disability and their families or carers. Engagement also includes extensive key stakeholders across community and government agencies.
Heather’s passion for end-of-life choices and palliative care comes from a background and study in pastoral care and qualifications as a grief and loss counsellor. This passion and ongoing learning have been carried through into leadership positions to improve outcomes for people experiencing inequities. Heather’s career in leadership has involved positions in government agencies, acute and community health services with people living with disabilities, mental health conditions and from diverse backgrounds.
Heather has a Master of Public Health and brings her own lived experience supporting an adult sibling who shares her family property. Her sibling lives with an intellectual disability but is also independent. Heather also had a son with the degenerative respiratory disease cystic fibrosis who died when he was 22 years of age adding to her passion for all people to live their best life and have equity of access to health supports and information.
