Speech Pathologist since 1982 . Interest grew in Palliative care for both swallowing and communication and family centered care. Seeking a Herd I completed a Masters in science specialling in Palliative care to support my passion in Allied health with a dying population.
Speech Pathology Expert advisor for 4 years in Palliative care and Neurodegenerative disease for the professional body NZSTA. and also a Life member of the organisation.
Co-creator of a resource for enabling easier conversation about dying of a family member, friend , sibling targeted at the under 10 year olds now being trialed in the disability arena . Sponsored by Australian and New Zealand Society of Palliative Medicine ANSPAM.

Facilitator of AHHA groups in Bay of Plenty Waipuna Hospice for 10 years using art and collage as a medium to communicate with self and others . This has now been transitioned and modified and is being used in the disability sector in Queensland. Fiona also holds qualifications in interactive drawing therapy.
