Professional Bio

Christy has over 25 years’ experience as a Registered Nurse in Senior Nursing and Executive management positions,  with a combined role as a Specialist Primary Health Care Nurse Educator.  Christy has held the position of General Manager Vocation Education and Training for one of Australia’s largest vocational providers.  In this role she was the Head of Nursing and pioneered the introduction of the Diploma of Nursing in Tasmania and introduced simulation activities into the VET sector.  Also having roles as Nurse Educator and holding senior roles in the Aged Care and General Practice Sector.
Christy has a passion for workforce development, change management and working in Non-executive Director Board roles that  focus on increasing the prospects of health provision and education within disadvantaged groups. Her roles have included working with NGO’s, State Based Boards, Ministerial Taskforce initiatives and the Tasmanian Collective Impact 2030 Initiative.  
Christy's current dual roles as National Indigenous Palliative Care Manager and National Workforce Development Manager allows her to focus on increasing service provision and improving care initiatives in the Primary Health, Palliative Care and General Practice areas. 
Workforce Development in both Aboriginal and Torres Strait workforce and Aged Care is her current focus are area of expertise, she is thrilled to be able to develop resources and strategies to amplify the workforce sector challenges that are prevalent in the Palliative Care, Aged Care and Primary Health areas, in not only nursing but across interdisciplinary areas.
