Professional Bio

Catherine Jeffs is a Nurse Consultant with Northern Adelaide Palliative Service, working currently in community nursing in the northern suburbs of Adelaide, an area with high social needs, significant unemployment, poverty, substance abuse and poor health. She has worked during her long nursing career in all aspects of palliative nursing. In recent years she has engaged in qualitative research with “The Brilliant Project”, using video reflexive ethnography to demonstrate those brilliant and life-affirming points of care. More recently, Catherine has undertaken coordination of a palliative clinic ,“Care Plus” as part of a multi-site implementation of early palliative care in routine oncology  practice to improve health outcomes and reduce hospital admissions for people with advanced cancer. Catherine is passionate to be involved with others in research that will improve the lives of patients and families living well with a life limiting illness.
