Workshop: Dealing with complexity in children’s palliative care

Clinical Lead, Paediatric Palliative Care (PPC) and Complex Pain Services at Starship Children’s Hospital

Dr Ross Drake has gained fellowships in Paediatrics (FRACP 2000), Palliative Medicine (FChPM 2003) and Pain Medicine (FFPMANZCA 2011) and is currently the Clinical Lead of the Paediatric Palliative Care (PPC) and Complex Pain Services at Starship Children’s Hospital.

The PPC service provides care to children and their families with life-limiting conditions at home in the greater Auckland region, for children in Starship regardless of where they live and provide advice nationally and internationally. It has a working philosophy of collaborative, integrated and culturally-appropriate care with an aim of seamless care across tertiary, secondary and primary healthcare settings.

Dr Drake regularly presents and teaches various PPC topics and has a specific interest in central neuropathic pain conditions and the decision-making process.
